The use of stem cells for treatment of multiple sclerosis has the potential to address both the inflammatory aspects of the disease, as well as induce regeneration. Above is a clip from a news release describing what appears to be a repeatedly successful treatment of multiple sclerosis using the patient's own stem cells. Various stem cell types have previously been demonstrated to suppress multiple sclerosis in animal models, for example, this publication, demonstrated that stem cells induce indolamine 2,3 deoxygenase as a mechanism of T cell suppression.
