This patent is directed to the stimulation of hematopoietic stem cell proliferation by use of a lectin called FRIL. The patent has 2 independent claims. The first is directed towards a pharmaceutical composition claiming some distinct sequences that bind glycosylated flt-3. The second is directed towards treatment, using the same sequences. There is a paper published by the authors that describes the hematopoietic stimulatory activity of FRIL (Colucci G, et al. cDNA cloning of FRIL, a lectin from Dolichos lablab, that preserves hematopoietic progenitors in suspension culture.
