This video reviews data that explains why CXCR4+ stem cells and CXCR4- stem cells home with similar efficiency to the bone marrow. The answer is that the CXCR4 antibody actually blocks signalling, and that CXCR4- cells actually contain intracellular stores of CXCR4 which can be upregulated by cytokines.
