Now I wonder whether he was treated with one or two types of stem cells. As we saw in the diabetes publication, the use of two different types of stem cells actually causes more regenerative effects in terms of restoring insulin. Maybe it is similar for the heart !
It is sad that people dont know stem cells of the adult type are used in people with good results. This case is only one of many that exist and are even published.
The differentiation of bone marrow stem cells into heart cells was published by several groups. What is most interesting is that bone marrow stem cells contain a population CD133, which makes new blood vessels and treats hypoxia, while also having mesenchymal stem cells that can turn into cardiomyocytes.
Stem cell therapeutics really is the medicine of the future. The Cellmedicine work is fascinating.

Clinical Trial: 53-patient, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluating the safety and preliminary efficacy
https://www.osiristx.com/pdf/PR%2039%2025Mar07%20Provacel%20Positive%20Results.pdf Press release reporting presentation of Joshua Hare M.D., the lead investigator for Osiris trial of bone marrow derived allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells administered in absence of immune suppression. Presented at the American College of Cardiology’s Innovation in Intervention: i2 Summit.
Patients in the PROVACEL (allo-MSC BM-derived) group were four times less likely to experience an arrhythmic event compared to those receiving placebo (9% vs. 37%, p=0.025).
• Fewer patients experienced clinically significant premature ventricular contractions after receiving PROVACEL as compared to placebo across all time points (11% vs. 24%, p < 0.001).
• PROVACEL patients with major “anterior wall” heart attacks had a statistically significant 7.0 point (24%) improvement in ejection fraction at three months and a 7.3 point (25%) improvement at six months over baseline (p<0.05), while similar patients receiving placebo did not have significant improvement.
• Patients receiving PROVACEL had significantly improved lung function as measured by improvement in FEV1 predicted values (17 point PROVACEL vs. 6 point placebo, p < 0.05).
• Significantly more patients who received PROVACEL experienced improvement in their overall condition at six months as compared to those receiving placebo (42 vs. 11%, p=0.027).
The fact that adult stem cells are used to treat people with heart disease with success should not be a surprise to anyone. Back in 2002 there was a paper in which 20 patients with heart failure were treated with their own bone marrow and positive results were observed, this was called the Transplantation of Progenitor Cells and Regeneration Enhancement in Acute Myocardial Infarction (TOPCARE-AMI) study.
Since way back then, numerous clinical trials, all visible at www.clinicaltrials.gov have been initiated using stem cell therapy for heart failure. The problem is that in these trials many patients dont want to risk being in the placebo group so they go to places like www.cellmedicine.com outside the US and pay to get treatment.
Of all stem cell clinics, www.cellmedicine.com seems to be the most professional one since they published numerous papers. However there are other clinics such as Vescell, www.vescell.com, but these use strange type of stem cells.
It would be interestingn for StemCellPatents.com to have a comparison between the various stem cell clinics available for treatment outside the US, as well as ongoing adult stem cell clinical trials and an idea of when embryonic stem cell trials will initiate.
It's really a surprising news! I wonder how could he get feet. Certainly, that person devoted his full contribution because If the person doesn't follow the prescribed treatment, his/her life expectancy is very short. CHF can be treated, but it is a fine line when you get to stage three.
