This patent covers methods of generating transgenic animals through the use of donor cells that express the telomerase reverse transcriptase. The expression of telomerase in the donor cell apparently increases the efficacy of cloning. There are 4 independent claims in the patent, all covering "a method for generating transgenic non-primate mammals by nuclear transfer", and all containing the insertion of telomerase in the donor cells. The claims differ on the methodology (for example independent claim 1 states "transferring of the donor nucleus" whereas independent claim 2 states "fusing of the donor nucleus".
