This patent teaches how to make a hematopoietic-stimulatory substance through taking out blood, extracting monocytes and macrophages, culturing them with a glycoprotein from urine, and collecting/concentrating the resulting composition, which is useful for stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of human granulopoietic stem cells. This may be an interesting way to generate growth factors without needing to use recombinant technology. It is interesting to read this specification and see if that which is claimed has similar properties to growth factors now made recombinantly (ie GM-CSF, G-CSF, etc).
