The current patent covers methods of producing biodegradable scaffolds for implantation of stem cells, committed progenitors, or differentiated cells into a host primarily for the purposes of healing or regenerating musculoskeletal tissue.
Covered is an implantable device made of fibers with varying degrees of biodegradability designed so that scaffold degradation is coordinated with replacement of the scaffold fiber with fiberous tissue derived from the host.
Various compositions are covered in the production of the implantable device including various growth factors, polymers, and adhesion molecules.
