This patent teaches the use of a composition of matter called T-4 immune stimulating factor (TISF). This peptide was patented previously as a 50 kDa molecule in US patent # 5,616,554 as being useful for stimulation of CD4 T cell responses. The composition is derived from thymic cell lines and appears to be primarily immunostimulatory.
In the current patent the use of TISF is claimed for stimulation of hematopoietic stem cell activity, including for post radiation and post chemotherapy reconstitution.
This patent may be particularly useful for the stimulation of other stem cell types besides hematopoietic stem cells. Additionally, it may be productive to utilize TISF subsequent to bone marrow transplantation so as to obtain not only enhanced hematopoiesis but also Graft versus Leukemia effect.
