In the manufacture of various implantable medical devices it is important that the said device be able to endothelialize so that it integrates successfully with the host. When this doesn't happen various problems may arise such as restenosis, or inflammation at the site of device implantation.
The current patent teaches that coating of devices with osteoprotegerin can be used to cause endothelial cell lining of the medical device. The patent calls the acceleration of endothelialization, "endothelial morphogenesis" so that it may have wide coverage.
