This patent is from the same group that originally patented embryonic stem cells of human. In the current patent there is one independent claim that covers the differentiation of human embryonic stem cells into neural progenitor cells. The method claims involves culturing so that embryoid bodies are formed from the embryonic stem cells through incubation with FGF-2, as well as standard culture media additives such as insulin, transferrin, progesterone, putrescine, sodium selenite, heparin .
