This patent covers a factor derived from serum by chemical purification techniques that induces stem cell differentiation, and is able to induce differentiation of leukemic cells.
Such factors have great possibilities in cancer therapy. Older work by Laurence Burton at the Immune Augmentative Therapy (IAT) clinic actually clinically used such factors with good results in mesothelioma patients. Since mesothelioma is associated with asbestos and is a major cancer without clinically significant therapy, the work of Burton should be re-evaluated in light of this patent.
