This patent covers stimulation of hematopoietic stem cells by administration of hepatocyte growth factor with either IL-3 or GM-CSF.
Hepatocyte growth factor has been used clinically in a variety of situations including to stimulate angiogenesis. It may be interesting, in light of the claimed pro-hematopoietic stem cell activity of hepatocyte growth factor, to try using this cytokine together with bone marrow stem cells for augmentation of angiogenesis.
