Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are universal donor cells capable of stimulating angiogenesis and clinically improving cardiac parameters in post infact patients.
The current patent covers the use of mesenchymal stem cells in the improvement of heart functions.
The one independent claim covers:
"A method of improving ventricular wall motion of the heart of an individual, comprising: administering to said individual autologous or allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells, wherein said mesenchymal stem cells are administered in an amount effective to improve ventricular wall motion of the heart of said individual."
Note how the claim is not restricted to cause of heart failure or method of administration.
