Dear ,
An interesting patent (#7,419,690) issued last week teaches the use of Yam extracts for stimulation of hematopoiesis. The specification has some pretty impressive post-5FU hematopoietic recovery data.
Another patent from last week (#7,419,825) revealed that CD15 is a useful molecule for selecting neural stem cells.
In the news, a report from Spain demonstrated that neural stem cells, are similar to hematopoietic stem cells in the sense that chronic inflammatory stimuli mediate inhibition of function. This is part of a growing trend of papers examining the qualitative nature of various types of inflammatory stimuli and how they effect various stem cells in different ways.
