Hello ,
Last week a paper was published reporting selective mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells, endothelial progenitor cells, and mesenchymal stem cells by using combinations of VEGF, G-CSF, and AMD-3100.
An interesting patent, #7,473,425, covering the synergy between HGF and G-CSF for treatment of ischemic limb disease such as critical limb ischemia.
Geron continued building its patent fortress with the issuance of #7,473,555 covering methods of generating mature hepatocytes from pluripotent stem cells.
Although we don't see too many patents coming from academic institutions taking an "out of the box" claiming approach, #7,473,414 from the Wistar Institute covers the means of identifying compounds that mediate wound healing by examing a mouse model they established.

Patent Number: 7,473,425
This patent essentially covers the combination of G-CSF with HGF, together with a clinically used pharmacotherapy, for the treatment of ischemic disease of a limb. Classically it has been difficult to induce therapeutically significant angiogenesis using single angiogenic compounds. Some companies are[Read More]
