Dear manoj kumar valluru,
An interesting paper of relevance to our field was published last week describing neural in vivo differentiation of tooth derived stem cells, and perhaps more interesting, activation and recruitment of endogenous neural progenitors. This is the second paper demonstrating in vivo activity of this type of cell, a while ago we discussed the paper demonstrating similar stem cells possessing cardiac regenerative activity.
Also interesting was a patent (#7,408,095) issued to the company Phylonix Pharmaceuticals covering the use of pre-immune zebrafish as an alternative immune deficient host for studying human cells, particularly cancer. Looks like the NOD-SCID mice will be out of a job !! (joke).
Another patent (#7,408,039) was issued covering the use of costimulatory blockade (CD28-CD80/CD86) or (CD40L-CD40) together with antibodies to CD2 as a method of blocking graft versus host disease after cytoreductive therapy.
