Hello manoj kumar valluru,
Last week a paper was published describing pro-angiogenic effects of caloric restriction. The effects were mediated by adiponectin since mice lacking adiponectin did not have an enhanced angiogenic response. Given the correlation between caloric restriction and longevity, as well as the possible relationship between stem cell number and longevity, it would be interesting to see if their is a relationship between caloric restriction and stem cell activity.
Two patents were issued last week of interest to our field. The first, #7,449,186, teaches how to mobilize CD34 cells by administration of antibodies to VCAM-1, which is found on stromal cells and binds VLA-4 on CD34 hematopoietic stem cells.
The other patent, #7,449,333, provides a composition that can be sprayed onto wounds for acceleration of healing/reduction in fibrosis. This composition is made of allogeneic fibroblasts, extracellular matrix components, and thrombin.
